Post-AIMS Support
AIMS is offering travel grants of at most $2 000 to its recent graduates or alumni (1-year post-AIMS) who have never benefited from the post-AIMS bursary program and who wish to undertake either a research/professional Master’s or research/professional PhD study in an institution outside of the African continent.
Post-AIMS Support
Post-AIMS Support is a key element of the AIMS model which differentiates AIMS from most other tertiary institutions. This also represents one of the strategic engagement tools between the AIMS network and its alumni, for their continuous professional development.
Post AIMS Travel Grants
AIMS offers travel grants to its recent graduates or alumni (1-year post-AIMS) who have never benefited from the Post-AIMS bursary program and who wish to undertake either a research/professional Masters or research/professional PhD in an institution outside of the African continent.
The Post-AIMS Bursary
AIMS Alumni and AIMS students should visit their AIMS Centre’s website for additional information and to apply for a Post-AIMS bursary.
The Post-AIMS Travel Grant is part of the larger post-AIMS bursary program which seeks to:
- Support the growth of research capacity in countries hosting AIMS Centres, and institutions on the Africa continent; and
- Support student professional development which can translate to the direct applications of their skills to development sectors/industries on the African continent.
This is to ensure that through AIMS, African tertiary institutions and industries can increasingly contribute to research-based knowledge and/or innovations developed by young African researchers based in Africa.
The travel grant component of the post-AIMS bursary program is a mechanism through which AIMS extends its support to students wishing to study outside of Africa, but require only a flight ticket to enable them take up these study opportunities.
Only candidates who have secured full funding at institutions outside Africa are eligible to apply for a Post-AIMS Travel Grant.
