Isambi Sailon Mbalawata is the Academic Development Manager at AIMS Global Secretariat responsible for academic and research development. He joined AIMS in September 2016 as the Academic Manager at AIMS Tanzania Centre, where his main responsibility was to coordinate all academic activities at the centre. Prior to AIMS, Isambi worked as a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University Of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from July 2009.

In December 2014, Isambi obtained his PhD in Finland at Lappeenranta University of Technology and his PhD dissertation was titled “Adaptive Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Bayesian Filtering for State Space Models”. His area of specialization is Bayesian Methodology applied to epidemiology, stochastic processes and climate change. He has papers on Markov chain Monte Carlo, stochastic differential equations, particle filters, statistics and epidemiology. He has supervised nine Masters Students and two Ph.D students. Currently, he is supervising two Ph.D and three Masters Students.
